I tried something new today. I made a batch of my Sourdough Molasses Bread, but instead of molasses, I used honey and then when it was time to shape the loaf, I rolled it out flat and spread it with butter, sprinkled it with cinnamon, sucanant, and raisins. Then I rolled it up and let it rise in the loaf pan. I baked it for 45 minutes at 350F.
I want my kids to start eating whole wheat toast with their eggs, plus I just thought cinnamon raisin bread sounded good. It was a hit! This will now be part of my baking repertoire.

That sounds fantastic! I’m bad at baking bread – I just never get around to it so we don’t really eat it that often. I might have to make an exception for a bread like that, though.

Shannon, The bread sounds yummy. Thanks for posting on my blog. I’m blessed to hear about your house pay-off coming so soon. We believe we’ll be able to do ours as well. Missed giving you BoxTops at the meeting. See you next month!

Tammy,
Yes, I’ll see you next month. I had to leave early this month.

Yum! My kids love when I make those…which is unfortunately not often enough. I’m thinking of making a Baking Day so that we can have bread around again. Since I went back to school I have slipped in this area.

I have been so used to baking regularly through the week, but it is getting harder. I have started making my husband a large batch of muffins once a month now, instead of once a week. I need to do that with other items, too.

Funny, but I thought you made a bunch of little loaves out of the batch of dough–that’s what I get for trying something new from memory! I made 8 small loaves–this works nice as well. Thanks for the new breakfast idea!

Melissa,
Small loaves will work just fine, I’m sure.

The kids loved having their own little loaf and they didn’t seem botherd that the rolls did not have a super sweet taste–maybe the fact that they did NOT look like cinamon rolls helped. And (true confession) I drizzled a little bit of glaze over the tops.

I feel like the sucanat makes this bread plenty sweet (and the raisins).
I have actually created a monster with this recipe. My kids are incredibly sad when we run out of this bread! We haven’t had it for over a week and they keep begging for it!
